Mikkel Schack: ...About to destroy something beautiful
29/01/08 || Lord K Philipson
Back in the early 90’s there was a guy in Denmark called Morten Nissen who ran a fantastic fanzine called Trechoma. I was good friends with this dude over regular mails (we are older then the regular use of e-mails, bitches) and we supported each other’s magazines to the fullest. We, for some reason, lost contact later on and that was that. Now, some 15 years later, said Morten hollers over some shitty internet site (I think it was the hideous MySpace) and some weeks later I got two albums in my mailbox (not inbox, the real one – we are old-school, you know) released on Morten’s own label. I dig that. Real metal heads never die. Now resurrect Trechoma and we will all be fine.
Enough bullshit, let’s get on with the show.
Before this Mikkel Schack fucko’s album arrived, Morten said to me that he’s not all too sure I will like what he sends over but would appreciate a coverage of it anyways. And sure, I’ll cover it (in feces perhaps) and give this Mikkel fella some exposure, good or bad. That’s what friends are for.
So, to start this off, let’s just say that Mikkel won’t be receiving any application from me asking if I can join his band anytime soon. Last time I checked I wasn’t that fucken gifted with acoustic guitars and soft radio rock. Let me check again, just to be sure… Nope, I’m not. Just what I thought. Sure, it’s ok for what it is, the problem is that I can’t possibly dig this if it’s not a chick singing. Yeah, I’m a cunt like that. Mikkel’s got a nice voice and I’m sure he means every note he’s playing, but this kind of music is not for me. I can acknowledge the fact that the guy’s obviously got talent, but so does any given NHL player and I don’t like any given NHL player any more becoz of that.
We have covered some weird shit on this site and it can be discussed if Mikkel belongs here. Sure he does becoz the connection is clear; Label boss Morten ran a metal magazine in the past and he released this. That means it’s affiliated with metal. Sort of. Like we need any excuses for what we review at Global Domination. We could make a fucken review of a sandwich and get a clear metal connection to it, so blow us.
5/10.
